Since I regularly backup my valuable data on DVD, I heavily rely on the services of a DVD writer. Lately, my trusty NEC ND-1300A started to produce more and more faulty and thus unreadable DVDs. So I bought a BenQ DW-1640. Not because it’s the best of breed (maybe it is, I just don’t know) but because it was instantly available at an acceptable price. Just to be on the safe site, I upgraded the firmware to the latest revision and after the required reboot started the first backup session. So far, there were no errors and I’m a happy camper again ;)
