I run my fileserver off a Linux box using Samba to provide SMB shares to the various clients. While this works well even for the iBook, this particular machine has the nasty habit of creating .DS_Store files all over the place. Today I finally got sufficiently annoyed to look for a solution. What I came up with is the following shell script for the Linux box:
find ./ -name “.DS_Store” -print0 | xargs -0 -n1 rm -f
Using a shell script not only allows me to call it from a cron job but also gives me a way to manually clean a directory of my choice whenever I feel like it.
