By now the Sonos ZonePlayer 100 has replaced my previous system of listening to music while working. It’s a lot easier to fire up the Controller Software for the Mac, turn on the music, and quit the application. Yup, you can quit the application and if the player is set to shuffle mode it will keep playing for as long as you let it. Nice.
In preparation for moving the ZP100 to the living room I also changed how it accesses the network. Since I have no (working) cable there, the connection has to be wireless. Unfortunately my ZP100 doesn’t do wireless. Instead of using a WLAN bridge as Volker did, I used an DWL-900AP+ access point in client mode. This works like a charm and doesn’t require me to put the other access point in bridge mode. So I now have a working wireless ZP100 while still being able to access my WLAN everywhere on the grounds. And I can ever user the three remaining ports on the ZP100 to connect other equipment. Nice.
Did I already mention that I really like the system? And it’s like I’ve been told before. You’ve got to use it to love it. From the data sheet you won’t get it.
