New Toy: Fortuna Slim GPS

Fortuna Slim GPS Sirf IIIWhile looking for a good way to improve my Karma, I considered adding a GPS mouse to my collection of gadgets. Volker recommended Fortuna so I went for the Slim GPS. The receiver is really tiny (think two matchboxes) and with just 80 grams it is easy to carry around. Battery life is 10 hours – a lot more than I need. Installation was a breeze, getting a fix on my position, however, was not. My office is located in the basement and the only window points due north so I only get two satellites at a time from here. To get a reading I had to resort to the kitchen and was rewarded with an instant connection. Expect to see some more plazes discovered by me in the next days ;)

Do you know where i could get my GPS service by cell phones?
my friends download GPS software to cell phones, and their phone become the navigation system. so cool! but, how i can get
    one too?!

This depends on whether your cell phone has a GPS receiver built in or not. Since my cell phones don’t have integrated GPS capabilities I use a Bluetooth link between the phone and the Slim GPS. Also some providers currently offer navigation services based on locating your mobile phone through triangulation. Since I’ve not played with that feature yet I can’t give you any info on how good it works.
